Criminals are using email, social media, text messages to trick people into giving their personal information out. Some criminals are posing as HR officials asking for W-2 Information, so they can file and collect your refund. 

Don't become a victim of phishing. The IRS doesn't initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. Also, IRS does not threaten taxpayers with lawsuits, imprisonment or other enforcement action.

According to Sharyl Schultz, CLU, President and owner of Ace Tax & Financial "What Ace is doing different this year, in addition to providing the standard tax preparation service, is the new Ace 21, a free, no obligation proactive planning service."

Schultz stated, "We've found that most people do a good job of planning for the expected, but most do not plan for the unexpected. The Ace 21 provides a review that is not likely on your radar." The new proactive planning service could be invaluable to tax clients because every one of the Ace 21 planning items can help individuals identify how small unexpected things can become big problems.

Schultz said that powers of attorney (“POA”) authorize another person to act on one's behalf in specified or all legal or financial matters. “But what would happen if your financial institution has an internal policy making acceptance or continued use of your POA difficult? What would happen if for some reason it did not work when you needed it most, such as your incapacity? The Ace 21 process will help you avoid that difficult situation," Schultz remarked. During the 2016-2017 tax season, clients that take advantage of the Ace 21 review will find out how they can avoid this situation, along with 20 other valuable proactive steps they can take to shore up their financial security.

Schultz also noted, "We are once again offering the special $69 complete tax preparation offer because of how popular it was in the community last year."
